Mazatlán Carnival isn’t just a festival… it’s a celebration that has brought people together for over 127 years.

What began as a simple local party in 1898 has grown into one of the most vibrant traditions in Mexico. In 1990, the carnival crowned its first queen, adding a touch of glamour to this already exciting event. This year, the celebration officially starts on January 24, when the city comes alive with the installation of “monigotes”, giant, colorful sculptures placed in the most popular spots, giving everyone a glimpse of the joy to come.

The season begins with one of the carnival’s quirkiest and most fun traditions: Pega de Calcomanías. Picture the streets buzzing with energy as cars are decked out in festive stickers, a playful way to kick off the party.

Then comes the Quema del Mal Humor, a unique ritual where a symbolic figure is burned to leave all negativity behind. It’s the perfect excuse to let go of your worries and fully embrace the festive vibe!

As the carnival heats up, the excitement reaches the shores with the breathtaking Combate Naval. This dazzling fireworks display over the bay is a visual treat, symbolizing Mazatlán’s historical battles and resilience.

Finally, the carnival culminates in the iconic Grand Parade, where the streets burst into life with elaborate floats, dazzling costumes, and infectious music. It’s a feast for the senses that you won’t want to miss!

Congratulations on many exciting, memorable and enjoyable vacations in the years to come.  It is very important to become familiar with the rules of the program which you will find in your Updated ECVC Membership Guide/Directory (available for downloaded here).  From time to time ECVC may make modifications to the content of this guide.  Notice will be given via this landing page or other means such as email notifications or posts on other media channels.  When modifications are made to the guide, the entire member base is considered and the changes are made in order to benefit the member base as a whole.  Changes to this content include but may not be limited to rules, regulations, guidelines, design, photographs, maps, charts, schedules and wording of its text.  Future updated versions of this guide will be made available for download in a similar manner.
