ECVC Highlights Ministry of Tourism Award

El Cid Vacations Club has received several sustainability awards including one from the Mexican Ministry of Tourism.

El Cid Vacations Club continuously makes endeavors to bring better experiences to its members while they enjoy stunning vacations at the member resorts. The El Cid team puts the experiences of its members at the forefront of everything that it does, and hopes that all of the steps made to improve the resorts bring new benefits to members.

One example of the kinds of efforts that El Cid has made to improve member experiences is the sustainability program that El Cid Vacations Club has implemented at all of its resorts. For the benefit of members and for the protection of the beautiful environments that the El Cid Resorts call home, the resorts have started following a number of environmentally friendly practices including on-site recycling, composting, and towel re-use. The company has also begun an employee educational program that teaches the staff to be resourceful and to implement green and sustainable practices while they work.

The company is proud to have recently received an award from the México Ministry of Tourism for these sustainable efforts. The company’s El Cid Marina Beach Hotel recently became one of 177 Mexican hotels to receive the “S” designation for its sustainability practices. This designation is awarded in recognition of hotels meeting a strict criteria that requires hotels to meet standards set by important sustainability organizations like the Rainforest Alliance and EarthCheck, as well as the World Tourism Organization. By holding resorts and hotels to these standards in order to earn the distinctive “S” award, the Ministry of Tourism ensures that the hotels that are awarded this distinction are sustainable innovators in the hotel industry.

In addition to the “S” distinction from the Ministry of Tourism, the El Cid Mazatlán resort has always been recognized for its implementation of environmentally friendly practices. The resort was given the Touristic Environmental Quality Certification. This certification is only awarded when resorts are able to meet strict guidelines set by environmental legislation in México. This distinction has only been received by a total of 65 hotels in all of México, setting El Cid’s Mazatlán Resort apart as a stellar example of how well sustainable practices can work in the tourism industry, and how hotels can make a positive impact on the environment. El Cid Vacations Club is proud and honored to have received these awards, and will use this success to spur its teams as it continues to make green efforts at the resorts.
