Considered the third-largest Carnival/ Mardi Gras party in the world after Rio De Janeiro and New Orleans, Carnival in Mazatlán has become a worldwide cultural phenomenon. This year marks the event’s 121st anniversary. This multiple day, continuous party features parades, fireworks, live music, and the Coronations of the Floral Games Queen, the Carnival Queen, the Children’s Queen, and the King of Joy. Carnival activities take place in Mazatlán’s famous Golden Zone, Malecon Oceanfront, the Centro Historico, and other locations throughout the city.
Both the cities of Cozumel and Cancun have their own events taking place the week before Lent. In Cozumel, Carnival is celebrated along with parades, music, and dancing. Carnival in Cozumel pays homage to the unique Mayan culture, known as a more intimate celebration.
Carnival in Cancun is a chance for tourists to take part in an authentic experience that takes place in the center of the city. Produced for and by the people of Cancun, this multi-day party allows guests to feel more like locals.
